Lufkin, TX — T.L.L. Temple Foundation announced the addition of Andrew Harmon as Program Officer, strengthening the Foundation’s capacity to support rural communities across East Texas through strategic investments in infrastructure, economic development, and regional collaboration.
Raised in Colmesneil, Texas, Harmon brings deep personal and professional experience working alongside rural communities. His hiring reflects T.L.L. Temple Foundation’s continued investment in on-the-ground expertise as it expands its work across health, education, and economic opportunity.
“Andrew brings a rare combination of lived experience, technical knowledge, and a practical, get-it-done approach to the work,” said Charlie Glover, President & CEO of T.L.L. Temple Foundation. “He understands East Texas and he knows how to turn local priorities into collaborative action.”
Harmon is a first-generation college graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. His public service career began with volunteer work in the office of U.S. Congressman Brian Babin, followed by roles in Tyler County government focused on local infrastructure and grant-funded community projects. He later worked at the Texas General Land Office, supporting community development and disaster recovery efforts. Most recently, Harmon served as Assistant Executive Director at the Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG), where he helped lead regional initiatives in transportation, broadband, and economic development across 11 East Texas counties.
“I’ve spent my career working alongside rural communities to solve real problems,” said Harmon. “I’m excited to help the Foundation listen to local voices and make thoughtful investments in projects that create lasting opportunity across East Texas.”
