Foundation Staff

John Calahan, as Director of Operations and Administration, provides oversight for functions supporting the foundation’s mission and strategic plan, overseeing business operations, technology, communications, grants management, HR, and benefits administration.

With diverse experience including administrative roles at Stephen F. Austin State University, vice presidency in infrastructure risk management consultancy, and a 21-year career as an infantry officer, John brings a wealth of expertise to the foundation.

He has actively contributed to community organizations like CASA Deep East Texas and the City of Nacogdoches Capital Needs Advisory Committee and was recognized for his service by the Concerned Black Men of Nacogdoches.

John holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas A&M University and King’s College, University of London. Outside of work, John enjoys yard work, problem-solving, and spending time with his wife, Rebecca Welch Calahan, and their three dogs, Izzy Lou, Angel, and Piper Rose.
